Working the Red Barn

The FFA sets up the Little Red Barn at State Fair to teach people about animals. I got to help Ethan, Ryan, Dusty and Mr. Jerrod take care of things. I liked the ducks (please note – Mama says this can in no way be interpreted by anyone as a hint to get me a duck.) I kind of liked these things too, but they kept calling them horses and I was pretty sure they weren’t horses - believe me I know horses. The puppies were fun and they all got adopted to new homes by the end of the fair. I even got to help feed the goats at the end of the day. My favorite would have to be the pygmy goats. There were two four week old twins and their Mama. I even got to hold one – he didn’t seem to mind being held around the neck. We had a minor disagreement over whose turn it was to use the slide, but it all worked out and I got to help them go down. It was way fun and I appreciate my FFA buddies letting me help out.

Back to the Fair

When Daddy went to the 4-H Horse Show, I got to go too! We got to see Mama and I stayed with her in the Youth Hall while Daddy was working. Tanner came to visit and play.Ms. Shannon was there to entertain us, but she lost interest when we decided to kick back and have Cheetos.Ryan taught me how to ride his unicycle named Berniece. If only I had longer legs, I could have gone solo! We had lots of fun at the fair, I even helped Mama get some work done. Then I came home with Daddy while Mama finished working. Fair time is fun, but I am glad to finally have Mama home!

Getting Ready for Fair

Mama has a big job at the State Fair, so me and Daddy volunteered to help. We took her shopping for all the supplies she needed to set up and judge 4-H Exhibits. We had two carts and there was barely room for me! Grandma came and took care of me while Mama worked at the Fair, then we came home and I stayed with Daddy for awhile. Mama was at the fair for 21 days in a row! That is why I haven't updated everyone in awhile - we have been pretty busy!

Horse Showin’

So my Daddy got to show a horse for the University over Labor Day Weekend. Her name is Luvy. She isn’t the riding kind of horse yet (she is still a baby) so I didn’t get to do Leadline of anything. I am hopeful for next time. We went on two different days. I was a good helper. I helped clean up after Luvy and keep the trailer organized. I also shut every gate at the fairgrounds. I had my own bucket to sit on for breaks. My favorite thing was exploring the bleachers and making Mama go up and down, up and down, up and down.
Boy was I tired by the end.

My Brother.

So Mama and Daddy went to see Pumpkin this morning - without me! Really that's ok - I got to stay and play at Ms. Darcy's while they sat at the doctor's office. They did get some really cool pictures of him. Hopefully you can see his face in these pictures from the 4D ultrasound. He is 24 weeks old, so still needs some time to cook, but they still say December. Me and Daddy like the name Jack, but only if his middle name can be O'Lantern (we are part Irish) and since Mama calls him pumpkin already it would be a nice fit. We'll see - doesn't he look like a Jack to you?

Daddy's Boy

I want to be like Daddy. When I get the chance I wear his clothes - my favorites are his boots, but a shirt will do in a pinch! I also like to have him share his deorderant and cologne so I smell like a big boy.
